I.D.E.A.S. UF wins Pepsi Refresh Competition!

Starting in January 2012, Pepsi Refresh encouraged UF students to submits ideas and solutions to create a Zero-Waste campus.

UF Chapter President, Kaylin Clements, poses with the $5K check!

After months of voting, I.D.E.A.S. For UF went on to win the $5,000 idea! Their concept was called “Recycling Fairy” and is designed to be a fully-costumed recycling mascot who periodically stakes out near recycling and trash bins, catches recyclers in the act, and REWARDS them with prizes or raffle tickets. As UF chapters says, “we have the resources to be waste free, but students have to USE the recycling bins in order for them to be effective!”

A big congrats to the entire UF chapter for your efforts and creative ideas to help UF become a sustainable campus and promote Zero-Waste operations through community-based education!
