Sunday, June 17th, 2012, marked a historic day for the IDEAS Movement: the 1st annual Florida Youth Congress, and our first attempt at the IDEAS Summit. In celebration of our 4 years of existence, IDEAS leaders from across the Southeast came together to hot workshops that identified history, challenges and solutions to the 5 Pillars of Sustainability: Energy, Water, Food, Waste and Ecology.

In attendance was Crystal Grant from the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) who introduced the Summit and shared her experience in the creation of the NWF Emerging Leaders Council (ELC) in April 2011, of which the conference was modeled off of.
Throughout the 2-day conference, in tandem with the 21st annual FWF Annual Conference, the Youth Delegates participated in “Effective Lobbying Training with political figures,” Peer-to-Peer engagement and Networking events, and even the official Florida Wildlife Federation (FWF) Board Meeting. Many said “It was arguably one of the best free weekend conferences with you leaders throughout Florida in 2012.”
Make sure to stay tuned about opportunities for IDEAS Summit 2013!
