The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), commonly referred to as the Rio Conference or Earth Summit, was a major success in raising public awareness on the need to integrate environment and development over the past 2 decades.
Since it’s inception in Rio, Brazil in 1992, the UNCSD is back again for it’s 20th anniversary to focus on the GREEN ECONOMY, and particularly highlight Jobs, Energy, Cities, Food, Water, Oceans and Disasters.
At the Rio+20 Conference, world leaders, along with thousands of participants from governments, the private sector, NGOs and other groups, will come together to shape how we can reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection on an ever more crowded planet to get to the future we want!
Just yesterday, IDEAS was recognized and accepted as one of the 800 NGO’s around the World who are officially invited to attend the Rio+20 Conference! We will be sending a few representatives to speak on behalf of IDEAS and help expand our movement Globally!

On May 10th, 350.org joined with Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Keith Ellison to launch a new bill that would cut $113 billion in subsidies to the coal, oil and gas lobby over the next 10 years — the same industries that are posting record profits and wrecking our planet.
Almost everyone in the United States opposes handing cash over to big oil, big coal, and big gas—the numbers are in the 70% range among Republicans, Independents, and Democrats. With support like that, we’re going on the offensive against the fossil fuel companies.
Help fight against subsidies to the Fossil industry by signing HERE.

World Environment Day is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action.World Environment Day activities take place all year round but climax on 5 June every year, involving everyone from everywhere.
World Environment Day celebration began in 1972 as apart of UNEP (United Nations Environmental Programme) and has grown to become the one of the main vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action.
The 2012 theme for World Environment Day is Green Economy: Does it include you? Evidently, there are two parts to this theme and the first tackles the subject of the Green Economy. This is where some people shut off their minds because they find the concept of the Green Economy a little too complex to understand.
